“Dagger of the mind, a false creation / Proceedin from the heat-oppressed brain” (Macbeth 2.1.38–39)

The Scottish Play - Macbeth - is reinterpreted through the lens of modern-day psychology. The rendition focuses primarily on the theme of delusions, from the characters’ self-convinced greed to the delusions caused by irrational fear. The set is designed for the Pell Chafee Performance Center of Brown University Providence, Rhode Island. The stage proposes a center bowl that traps the solo actor inside and allows the audience to view the performance from a birds-eye point of view.

Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more.
It is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing."
